How to Check Your IPO Allotment Status
Once the basis of allotment is finalised, you can check whether you got shares in under a minute. Here is every reliable way to do it.
When can you check?
Allotment status goes live once the basis of allotment is finalised — typically a day or two after the IPO closes, on the schedule set out in our IPO timeline guide. Before that, status pages simply show nothing.
Who is the registrar?
Every IPO appoints a registrar (RTA) that processes applications and publishes allotment. The two big ones in India are KFin Technologies and Link Intime (MUFG Intime). You check status on whichever registrar the IPO used — CoinWhisperer links you straight to the right registrar page for each IPO.
Method 1: On the registrar’s website
- Open the registrar’s IPO allotment page (KFin or Link Intime / MUFG).
- Select the IPO from the dropdown.
- Choose a lookup mode — PAN, application number, or DP ID / Client ID.
- Enter the value, complete the captcha, and submit.
PAN is usually the easiest, since you always know it. If you applied from several family PANs, check each one.
Method 2: On the BSE / NSE IPO page
The BSE IPO allotment page lets you check any IPO by selecting the issue, your application type (Equity), and entering your application number + PAN. NSE offers a similar lookup. These are handy when you’re not sure which registrar handled the issue.
Method 3: In your broker app
Most brokers show your IPO order status and, after allotment, whether shares were allotted — often the least-effort option since you’re already logged in.
Reading the result
- Shares allotted: the allotted amount is debited and shares are credited to your demat a day or so before listing.
- Not allotted: the ASBA block is released — the money is fully available again.
- “Not found”: either the basis of allotment isn’t out yet, or a detail (PAN/application number) was mistyped.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the registrar say “no records found”?
Most often the allotment isn’t finalised yet, or the PAN/application number has a typo. Wait for the official allotment date and re-check.
I wasn’t allotted — when do I get my money back?
The blocked amount is released around the allotment/refund date; because it was only blocked under ASBA, nothing was ever debited.
Where do the shares go if I’m allotted?
Straight to the demat account you applied from, usually a day before listing.
